The Home Features a LARGE STONE CHIMNEY and WRAPAROUND PORCH perfect for family gatherings, meals, naps, and entertaining friends. Inside are four bedrooms, family style kitchen, living room with a wood burning fireplace and large dining room. A TRULY ONE OF A KIND PROPERTY. A Brief History of the property from its current owners... -Abeel Farm/Abeel's Hearthstone Cottages has been described as a "haven" by many people who have come to the property, whether as guests or as tenants. It's a uniquely peaceful place. Friends of ours are missionaries in China and for a number of years they would coordinate their trip back to the United States with our summer vacation. They would relax at our home and use the property as though it was theirs â€" it was a peaceful, quite place for them to enjoy respite from the outside world. -From its early days as a summer camp for underprivileged schoolchildren from the small private Abeel School in Hackensack, New Jersey, to its resort days during the heyday of the Pocono resort era, to its present use as permanent year-round rentals, "Abeel Farm" has retained much of the charm that has defined its existence from the beginning. The cottages that were once home to campers every summer became week-long vacation rentals, and then permanent year-round rentals. Since 1995, the Munoz family renovated or significantly improved all nine cottages and the garage apartment. A couple of the cottages still have Swiss names on little signs at the peak of the roof, going back to when one gentleman remarked that the property reminded him of Switzerland â€" where a plateau is followed by a hill and then another plateau. -Over the years, our home has been known as "grand central station" because we always have people coming in and out â€" friends, family, neighbors, tenants, church groups, teachers, students, and so on. From before we owned the property through today, Abeel Farm has always been the perfect place to host gatherings of all sorts. Church picnics, covered-dish meals, youth gatherings, open-air concerts, swim/yard parties, hoe-downs in the barn, bonfires (four bonfire pits), chicken/turkey butchering, Thanksgiving meals, sledding get-togethers â€" all without ever leaving the property. Having a soccer field next door owned by our neighbor adds to the recreational opportunities too. -The focal point of Abeel Farm is the farmhouse that sits on the driveway circle as one comes onto the property. Originally bought as a Sears & Roebuck house at the turn of the 20thCentury, the farmhouse was transported by train and delivered by horse and wagon from the Analomink Train Station. Over the years, new additions and features were added to the house. Among the most distinctive features are the large stone chimney and wraparound porch. -The porch was the favorite place of the prior owner and it quickly became our favorite as well. It offers one of the most beautiful and peaceful vistas of the entire property and is the location of many meals, naps, and much hangout time throughout the summer and early fall. -The 'big red barn" is another distinctive characteristic of the property. It was the recreation barn back in the day for both campers and tourists. Game tables, crafts, and movies at night on the big screen were commonplace. We have hosted three hoe-downs in the barn in recent years. -Our storage shed by the road was the feature of a local newspaper article several years ago due to its unique construction. Judy's brother, Jon, took a log-building course in the mid-west and built the shed frame using only log beam and peg construction. He cut down the trees on the property, stripped them, and cut them into the lengths necessary for the building. Not a nail was used on the frame itself and it is so sturdy that it could be turned on its side and not be affected. -The original "candy store" (referred to as "the store") is still on the property from when it was a camp/resort. The interior still has a 60s/70s vibe and Judy worked there in the 1972 for 50 cents per hour, spending her hard-earned money on candy. She taught swimming lessons in the pool as well in the 70s and 80s.
